 #1: Pastor Tommy’s Send-Off

Sunday at 5:00 pm we’ll have a special time of celebration and recognition for Pastor Tommy for his 16 years of service. We’re collecting a love offering for him. It’s not too late to show you’re appreciation for Tommy’s ministry here at FBCL! Envelopes are available in the foyer kiosk and Bible Study classes.

#2: Membership Matters

Our next new membership class will begin on Sunday, September 10th. If you’re looking to join FBCL or just want to know more of what we’re about, join us at 9:15 am, in room B111 (conference room.)

#3: All Church Prayer Meeting

Please join us on Wednesday evening, September 6th from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm for a time of corporate prayer. The prayer meeting will focus on our fall ministries, missions, and discipleship.

Bible Study FOR ALL AGES

Join us at 9:15 am on Sunday morning when we offer a variety of Bible Study small groups. We offer something for every age! Stop at the connections desk for details.

Fall series – “Deadly Se7en”

Beginning September 17th we’ll focus our teaching and discipleship on the seven deadly sins. There will be small group studies to go with each message and a daily devotional guide. If you’d like to lead a small group for “Deadly Se7en” contact the church office by Monday, September 11th.

Bibles for Kenya!

MBS is preparing for another shipment to send to our brothers and sisters in Mombasa, Kenya. We need your used Bibles, bible related study materials, and biblical literature (adult, teens and children). Please drop off to church office no later than Sunday, September 10th.


Next Sunday, the first Sunday of the month, is designated as Deacons’ Fund Sunday. Please give toward the benevolent fund. The fund is intended primarily to help members of FBCL, and secondly to help residents of the greater Laurel area, with emergency needs.

Update on Extend-A-Hand
The Food Pantry will close at the end of August.  The Clothes Closet will only accept clothes, shoes, bedding, towels/washcloths, and hygiene items. We’re unable to accept furniture. Questions: Jane Mitchell, Missions Committee/Mercy Missions.


E-A-H is collecting book bags and supplies for children in need in our church and community. #2 pencils, blue pens, 24 crayons, 12 colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, pink erasers, washable markers, rulers, children’s scissors, pocket folders, wide-ruled spiral bound notebooks or loose leaf paper, composition notebooks. Leave items in the Sunday School office.

First Baptist School of Laurel

FBSL is looking for an Administrative Assistant for the school office. Applicants should be computer knowledgeable and comfortable with programs like Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with a similar job type preferred. Position is: twelve-month; M-F; 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Applicants should fill out the FBSL Employment Application at, www.fbslaurel.com, under “Documents” heading and email to Principal Michael Gall; mgall@fbslaurel.com, or drop off application in the school office.

Body And soul Fitness classes

Where faith and fitness meet. Beginning August 28th. “Finding Joy” CardioFit  class at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Beginning September 7th, “Finding Joy” PowerStrength at Rocky Gorge Wellness Studio. Register online at: www.bodyandsoul.org.

“Furniture for Families”

Community members can contact them for furniture needs or for donations of furniture.  Currently they pick up and deliver. Contact Keichel Lewter, director at 443-683-0182 or by email at  furniture4families@gmail.com.
