FBCL TOP 3  December 31, 2017

 #1 – New Year’s Eve Prayer Service
Come Sunday night at 10:30 pm as we observe the Lord’s supper. We will end with a time of prayer as we pray in the new year.

#2 – Starting Point on January 14, 2018
Starting Point is for anyone who wants to move beyond just attending to connecting meaningfully with FBCL. The next Starting Point will be Sunday, January 14 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  Lunch is on us and childcare is available. #3 – Equip Classes Begin in January
Equip Classes are great opportunities to start getting connected to our church, grow in your faith, and receive practical resources to live a Gospel-centered life. Bring in the new year with worship at the New Year’s Eve Prayer Service starting at 10:30 pm.

Bible Study FOR ALL AGES

Join us at 9:15 am on Sunday morning when we offer a variety of Bible Study small groups. We offer something for every age! Stop at the connections desk for details.

Diverse City Student Ministry

We welcome students, 6th -12th grade, to join us Sunday mornings from 9:15 am – 10:15 am

for a time to discuss deep questions and further their faith. We also welcome you to join us

Wednesday nights, from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the Student Life Center for a time of fellowship, games, teaching, and small groups. Upcoming Events: Diverse City will not meet on January 3rd during the Holiday Break. We will start meeting again on January 10th. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! The first Sunday of the month, is designated as Deacons’ Fund Sunday. Please give toward the benevolent fund. The fund is intended primarily to help members of FBCL, and secondly to help residents of the greater Laurel area, with emergency needs.

English-As-A-Second-Language Workshop – January 13th & 20th

To teach ESL, you need training and must give a minimum of two hours a week. We currently need teachers for day and night classes. The 16 hour workshop will be January 13th (part 1) and 20th (part 2), 9:00 am at FBCL. The workshop also equips participants to begin and conduct a Literacy Missions Ministry and guidelines for witnessing to immigrants and internationals. To be part of our ESL Ministry as a teacher, greeter, refreshment hostess, or preschool teacher, contact the church office, or email Norma Barkdull Slaugh.


You’re invited to the Open House at First Baptist School of Laurel, Saturday, January 13th, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. There will be a tour of the school, a meet and greet with our principal Mr.Gall, and you’ll learn more about the curriculum. Contact the school office for questions 301-490-1076.


Share Food orders for January are due by 12:00 pm on Sunday, January 7th. The distribution date will be Saturday, January 20th.


End of year giving statements are sent out via e-mail. Please make sure that the church office has your current e-mail to ensure that you receive your statement.


The Lottie Moon annual offering goes to support international missions. Envelopes are available in the Foyer kiosk. Our goal is $12,000. We have currently collected $7,918.
