Diaconal Recommendation
FBCL is one church represented by four congregations. As a congregational church, one of the responsibilities of each congregation is to affirm its leaders. Thank you for prayerfully considering this evaluation form. You will need to complete a separate form for each candidate you evaluate.
We are in the process of mentoring and evaluating men to take on deeper leadership roles at our church. It is important for members of the church to know who their leaders are and to affirm these men as we begin to move forward in the process. We are now ready to present the next candidates for deacon at our church.
Please take a moment to prayerfully offer your evaluation of the following candidate. After the bio, click the button to open an evaluation form.

Jonathan Rehn
I was born October 13, 1983. I was raised in a Christian home with believing parents who taught the gospel to me and my siblings from an early age. God called me to Himself when I was 6 years old. I had heard my dad talk about the consequences of sin, and I later asked my brother more about it. He talked to me about what Jesus had done on the cross and I remember God convicting me of my sin and praying to ask for forgiveness and salvation. Years later I was married to Jessica for over eight years and we had two kids together, Rachel and Seth. Jessica passed away from cancer after a 4+ year fight. Then God allowed Susie and me to meet and we were married. Susie immediately became a mother to Rachel and Seth, and later God blessed us with Caleb. We are so thankful for God’s work in our lives and are eager to serve Him in His work!

Derrick Jones
Hello! My name is Derrick Jones. I have been married for 14 years to my wife, Amanda. We have three wonderful children named Drake (12), Dianna (8), and Delayna (5). My family began attending First Baptist Church Laurel in 2015, and my wife and I became members. We are active in several enrichment classes, and our children are involved in the children and youth ministries. I have enjoyed assisting with the greeting and security team. This year, we became involved with Upward Sports, for which I was a coach and my children participated in Basketball and Cheerleading. I have been truly blessed by serving these ministries. If I am not at work, then you might find me at home doing home projects, playing games, or playing golf with my son. I look forward to continuing the Lord’s work through the church.
