What do we give?
Giving at First Baptist Church of Laurel is based on the principle that God requires us to return a portion of what He has given us back to Him. The standard of giving from the Bible is a tithe, which literally means a 10th or 10%. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor 9:7) and we encourage you to give as you have been given.
Giving is only expected of our members and regular attenders, so if you're a guest at a worship service, you are not expected to give when the offering is being received.

The legacy fund
There are ministries here at First Baptist Church whose primary purpose is the spread of The Gospel in our community and beyond. The Legacy Fund has been established to ensure that those ministries receive funding for both the present and future. Legacy Fund means different things to different people. For us, we want to leave a monetary gift behind each year that will grow over time. The interest from this fund will be applied directly to ministries that meet certain criteria, but the principle will never be touched, essentially, leaving a Legacy. We are asking our church family to give an extra $131 this year (2023) to mark our 131st anniversary as a church. We will add a dollar each year that our church celebrates its anniversary.
